Employment 2000 Corp. Turns to CAI for IT Infrastructure Overhaul and Seamless Move to New Facility

March 14, 2014 — Employment 2000 Corp (E2K), a Massachusetts-based staffing company serving companies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and CAI Managed IT today announced the completion of E2K’s technology upgrade and relocation to new offices.

Ralph A. Palumbo, a member of the board of directors for E2K said, “We had essentially outgrown our existing space and wanted to get off to a fresh start in the new facility. We also recognized that we’d need a great deal of technical and IT assistance in this transition and began our due diligence by asking our business partners and others in the local community if they might recommend a company with a top-notch reputation that could not only own that critical aspect of our move but could also provide ongoing support for our network devices. This process led us to CAI Managed IT and their many direct customer references.”

The project was divided into two distinct phases. Phase 1 would be the planning and installation of a completely new Microsoft Windows-based computer network and technology infrastructure at E2K’s new offices. E2K’s IT environment consisted of a single domain controller (server) running Microsoft Windows Server 2008, the various hubs, switches and other prerequisite equipment and the ability of the company’s employees to connect to the network via one of 12 new PCs connected to the server. Phase 1 also included a complete data migration from E2K’s older systems, while keeping security a top priority. Phase 2 included the deployment of CAI’s fully managed IT support services—24/7 monitoring and management of the company’s server and PCs as well as CAI’s Advanced Managed Backup and Recovery (AMBaR) data back-up and recovery service.

“CAI executed the entire project flawlessly. They were able to provide an exceptional computer network design and an impeccable implementation in an extremely tight schedule,” Palumbo said. “Other than some initial minor glitches with our phone system we literally haven’t had a single interruption from the last day of business in our former location to today. This was absolutely critical to the success of this significant technology upgrade for our business,” Palumbo added.

Frank Motta, EVP for CAI Managed IT said, “To ensure a smooth transition and minimize down time, we initially staged E2K’s technology upgrade, including a new domain controller, PCs and network equipment—as well as our monitoring and system backup services—in the existing building. Within 60 days after going through this extensive technology upgrade, E2K opened their new offices in a completely seamless move.”
